Tempestuous

Yet another experimental character design work featuring Mother Nature/Gaia/Terra, the mercurial matron goddess and creator of the Earth, inspired by folklore versions of the deity and the character in William Joyce's 'Guardians' series. The goal of this illustration was to demonstrate her immense power and a cold, yet terrifying rage, proving to all that while motherly, Gaia is not always a benevolent god. Little could demonstrate the dangerous and destructive power of nature than a thunderstorm raging around its goddess as she looks on at her ungrateful creations.
